Dress Code
DRESS CODE
It is hoped that students can retain some flexibility in their choice of what to wear within a dress code that is typical of any business-like, professional institution. The essence of the dress code is to remain smart.
Boys' Dress Code
- Tailored jacket and/or a smart jumper/waistcoat (no hoodies/sportswear). No jacket/jumper required in the Summer Term.
- Tailored (suit style) trousers – no jeans.
- Shirt with a collar.
- Tie must be worn at all times.
Girls’ Dress Code
- Skirt/dress – can be tailored or flared – must be at least mid-thigh in length. Summer dresses may be worn in the Summer Term, but need to be smart and adhere to other dress code points.
- Smart trousers if worn (no leggings or jeans regardless of how “smart”).
- Top/blouse – must cover cleavage; back, shoulders and stomach. No sheer fabrics.
- Socks – no long or over the knee socks/tights
General
- Leather or leather look shoes (no boots, trainers, canvas shoes or flip-flops). Must cover toes.
- Hair should be a natural colour – no pinks, blues, bright reds, greens etc.
- Make-up needs to be moderate, with no excessive use of unnatural colouring.
- Nails of a natural colour and appropriate/safe length.
- No leather or pleather clothing; no denim hoodies or trainers and nothing too tight.
- Facial piercings are not acceptable unless clear retainers are used or they are covered up (i.e. covered with a plaster) whilst at school.
- Ear piercings are acceptable, but no bars or spacers and limited to 2 ear piercings in each ear.
- If you have sports, drama or dance lessons you are expected to come into school in your smart clothes and change for your lesson in school.
Remember that you are role models and that the younger students look up to you. You might feel that you look smart but your teachers may feel differently. Your teachers have the final say, so if in doubt, ask before wearing it. If you are not deemed appropriately dressed, you will be sent home to change.
