New Year 7 Students
Introduction – Why Robert Barclay Academy?
Robert Barclay Academy, as part of the ‘Outstanding’ Scholars' Education Trust, is a school committed to our values ‘Achievement, Care and Excellence’. Thinking about secondary school can be a daunting experience so our main aim is to ensure that every child, and family, feels reassured, supported and secure in their choice.
At Robert Barclay Academy, we offer academic rigour – with students each year achieving the very best GCSE and A Level grades, going on to attend top universities and, ultimately, developing rewarding careers. We also offer a family environment, where each child is known by name and teachers adapt their lessons to challenge each student. Students tell us they feel safe in school, behaviour is good and lessons are interesting. Parents welcome our weekly newsletter and strong communication between school and home – we have a dedicated Student Reception to ensure that any concerns can be quickly and efficiently rectified.
The Transition Process
As part of our ‘Year 6 Into 7 Transition’ process we ensure that there are plenty of opportunities to visit the school. We will normally also visit your primary school, and Year 6 teacher, so that we can find out how to support your child most appropriately. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call us.
Our Open Evening for students who will join us in September 2020 will take place on Thursday, 12 September 2019 from 5.30pm to 8pm. There will be two presentations by the Headteacher, Ced de la Croix, at 5.45pm and at 6.45pm. For further opportunities to speak to the teachers, visit the excellent facilities and, most importantly, speak to the current students in Year 7 through to the Sixth Formers. This really is the best way to get a feel for the school and the purposeful ethos and family feel we have developed, and we look forward to meeting you on the night.
Daytime tours of the school take place on Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 September 2019 should you wish to see the school in action! Other times may be available by request. Tours can be booked by phone 01992 410800 or be emailing the school admin@robertbarclayacademy.co.uk
