If students/parents have any queries or concerns, please phone, or see the Examinations Officer.
Exam information for candidates
Individual exam timetable– all students will receive an exam timetable, stating the date and time of each exam. They should look after this timetable.
Timetable clashes– students with timetable clashes will be given a timetable outlining arrangements for taking each exam, including supervision between exams.
Supervision between exams- if students are being supervised between exams, they must not leave the exam room at the end of their first exam as security may be compromised. They will be given instructions by the invigilator.
JCQ Information for Candidates– all students will be provided with a copy of this document before each exam season. Please make sure it is read and understood. It summarises everything that students need to know about rules associated with exams.
Information for candidates for written examinations
Candidate number– this will need to be entered on every exam paper. Students need to know their candidate number – it may be helpful to write it on a small card to be taken into the exam room. One less thing to remember!
Entering personal details on papers– students will need to write their name and candidate number on all papers and additional sheets. They should use capital letters and remember to sign papers if required.
Stationery and Equipment– students must ensure they take into the exam room all the equipment they will need for each exam. They should not rely on equipment being available in the exam room. Equipment must be in a clear bag or pencil case. Students should always write in black ink.
Mobile phones– it is always best not to take phones or other electrical equipment into the exam room. If students do take phones in, they should be turned off and put into the plastic wallet on their exam desk. These wallets are labelled with the desk number. They will be collected by the invigilator and returned at end of exam. NB. Students face disqualification should they have their phone with them during an exam.
Water– water may be taken into the exam room. Bottles must be clear with all labels removed. Food is not allowed in the exam room.
Exam rooms– the majority of exams in the summer will be held in Sports Hall. Students should check (beforehand) in which room their exam is to be held. Students with access arrangements will be informed of room allocation by Learning Support.
Arrival times– students should arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of an exam. If students arrive late, this has a knock-on effect on all exams scheduled that day. If students arrive very late for an exam, their paper may not be accepted by the examining board. Morning exams start at 9.00am and afternoon exams start at 1.30pm.
Seating plan– for each exam students will be allocated a desk number e.g. A3, C17. A seating plan will be available outside the exam room and students should check their number before entering.
Problems on the day– if students are unwell or have other problems on the day of an exam, they should call school by 8.30am.
If students/parents have any queries or concerns, please phone, or see the Examinations Officer.
