ICT and Computing

Key Stage 3

Students in Key Stage 3 (Years 8 and 9) follow a mixed curriculum of ICT and Computing topics.  Students are taught in form groups and receive one hour per cycle in Year 8 and two hours per cycle in Year 9.  Topics include: App design, Programming using Scratch, Web development, Podcasting, DTP, Graphic design, Animation, as well as Data Handling.  All lessons are differentiated by task according to ability with the main method of delivery being the school VLE Moodle.

Key Stage 4

ICT is a very popular choice at Key Stage 4 with 31 students in Year 10 taking the OCR Cambridge Nationals Level 2 National Award, and 34 students in Year 11 taking the OCR Nationals in ICT Level 2.

Key Stage 5

At Key Stage 5 12 students are working towards their OCR Cambridge Technical Level 3 Certificate with a further 18 students in Year 13 completing the OCR Nationals Level 3 Nationals Certificate.

GCSE Computing

We will also be introducing GCSE Computing as an option at Key Stage 4 to complement the ICT strand that we currently offer.  Early indications are that this will be a popular choice for students currently in Year 9.
