In Years 7, 8 and 9 students master a variety of skills, such as characterisation and development, vocal awareness, physicality and devising. Various styles and genres are studied at this level and practitioners, such as Brecht and Stanislavski, are introduced from Year 7.
GCSE Drama students follow the OCR board and work through three units: ‘From Page to Stage’, ‘Drama in the Making’ and ‘From Conception to Creation’. For each unit students can be entered as a performer or as a technical designer.
At A Level students follow the EDEXCEL board. There are four units designed to prepare students for higher education. There is a mix of indepth textual study, devising and a written exam at the end of the course.
We are incredibly lucky to have a link with the professional inclusive theatre company Razed Roof. Our A Level students are given the opportunity to work with Razed Roof throughout the two year course as a member of a professional company. Here students also complete the Gold Arts Award which has UCAS credits attached upon completion.
Our picture shows the cast of the recent Razed Roof production:'Flood', which deals with the impact of climate change on the environment.
