A great day in Court! Some of our 6th formers enjoyed a career visit to Luton Crown Court today. They listened to various court cases and got to understand more about the range of careers within the criminal justice system from the Circuit Judge-one of our Trustees, Geoff Payne pic.twitter.com/iugF4XCNUN

Physical Education

Curriculum Intent Statement

PE at RBA offers our students a rigorous, broad and balanced curriculum.  Our intent is to develop lifelong learners who are engaged, show an enjoyment of PE and physical activity whilst developing knowledge, understanding and confidence to lead healthy, active lifestyles.  This alongside developing confident leaders and providing opportunities to be involved in school sport from participation through to National competition.

Our new 5-year core PE curriculum is designed to enhance cultural capital and for all students at RBA to meet our aims and make progress in PE, we teach and assess holistically against our 4 ‘ME’s in PE’. This model encompasses all of what PE has to offer and at the same time allows us to grow and nurture students who will become well rounded and life skilled, ready for the wider world and a lifetime of physical activity.

The first ME is ‘PHYSICAL ME’, this is based on the students’ ability to complete the lessons in a physically active way and develop the movement patterns and technical skills needed to succeed in lesson activities.

‘THINKING ME’ develops students’ ability to analyse and evaluate their own and others’ performances, as well as being able to make the correct decisions and be creative in their work they produce. Alongside this is developing the knowledge of how to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.

‘LEADING ME’ where we encourage leadership skills to be used by students in PE to help run and deliver lessons and gain an insight into coaching and officiating which can be adopted in the world of physical activity and sport.

‘EMPLOYABLE ME’ developing student’s understanding of career routes and employability skills such as teamwork, organisation, resilience, motivation, respect and confidence.
